Expectations for the Season

Following last seasons play off defeat against Swansea Barnsley FC have lost captain Alex Mowatt, Head coach Valerien Ismael to Watford as well as CEO Dane Murphy and club secretary Teymour Roushdi have left for Nottingham Forest.

The secret of the Barnsley team though is the recruitment of head coach/s and players alike. Markus Schopp was quickly announced as Ismael's successor. He is another head coach with similar philosophies as Stendel, Struber and Valerien.

Main Player

Callum Styles. With Mowatt and Sollbauer (so far) the only exits and Devante Cole the first new signing the club will be looking to build on last year and consolidate on last season's success. Lots of anticipation of potentially Calum Styles moving into his preferred CM position and with Morris, Woodrow theres still plenty of firepower despite the club not signing last seasons loan hero Daryl Dike.

Rising Star

Callum Styles (the Bury Baggio). He is a player who has come on so far last season and so it will be intriguing how the new boss plays him...where and how often.

What transfers are needed?

There is reinforcement needed for sure, especially with 2 major players in Mowatt and Dike from last season not being here. Overall though, it does feel like depth is something they need to work on.

Predicted Finish

With the young guns of Helik, Anderson and Sibbick in defence there's no reason Barnsley FC should not be targeting a top 10 finish.
